IIGF participates in the seminar on the innovative financing mechanism at the Convention on Biologic
On November 4, a seminar on the innovative financing mechanism of the Convention on Biological Diversity was held in Beijing. Christoph NEDOPIL WANG, head of the Green Belt and Road Lab at the Green Finance International Research Institute of Central University of Finance and Economics, Cui Ying, director of the Climate Finance Research Lab and Carbon Finance Lab, and researcher Hong Ruichen were invited to the seminar.
Christoph NEDOPIL WANG gave a keynote speech on "The Opportunities and Challenges of Biodiversity Finance and Technology Innovation" at the seminar. He pointed out that biodiversity finance and other goals of sustainable development are mutually reinforcing and that global cooperation is also required. Biodiversity conservation is highly public, and not all financial solutions for biodiversity conservation are financially feasible. At present, no typical biodiversity conservation financial solution has been explored, so the active participation of all parties is required. And contribute wisdom. At the same time, Christoph NEDOPIL WANG also proposed that emerging technologies can be used to accelerate the development of biofinance, including cryptocurrencies, big data, artificial intelligence, and smart contracts.
This seminar focuses on the “Innovative Financing Mechanism of the Convention on Biological Diversity”, which aims to provide solutions for the implementation of the Convention on Biological Diversity. Leaders from the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the People's Bank of China, relevant personnel from international institutions such as the World Bank, International Finance Corporation, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, and more than 60 well-known universities and research institutions at home and abroad attended the event seminar.
